Onestop Safety Systems Limited are approved designers & installers of Walksafe Rooftop Walkways by Latchways.
The key driving forces behind the Rooftop Walkways Systems are Legislation and Rooftop Maintenance.
Legislation
Unfortunately falls from height are still the most common cause of accidents and deaths within the work place. The health and Safety Legislations have therefore focussed legislation around improving this unfortunate statistic through various guidance and legislative documents.
In April 2005 the USE published the work at Height Regulations (WAH). These regulations bring together the relevant Parts of the Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996 (CRISWR), the workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the construction (Resign and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM). These regulations all have references to working at height and are incorporated within the WAUR.
Additionally the Booklet VISG33 “Health and Safety in Roofwork” give extensive guidance on roofs. It covers new building, repairs, maintenance, cleaning work and demolition. It points to the principal problems, notably falls through fragile roofing materials and falls from unprotected roof edges, and warns that many may undertake maintenance work with little or no experience of roof work or of working at height.
Rooftop Maintenance
In the majority of cases roof access is required to prevent leaks (both air and water) and keep up maintenance regimes to ensure compliance with various rooftop manufacturers' warranties
In addition access could be required for …
- Fire Escape Routes
